- Increase the effect of unwanted event that do end up occuring
- Actuaries are the backbone to our society's financial security programs
- The main thing that actuaries do to contribute to society is managing peoples risks so they do not have to worry about it

This job seems pretty important considering I had no idea what it was in the first place. Does it project certain types of disasters or events, or just more general things? I never really thought of this type of profession before, it sound pretty interesting.
